Brent is a compassionate dentist with a profound commitment to humanitarian service. Since 2003, he has dedicated himself to aiding impoverished communities worldwide, initiating a journey of impactful change. In addition to providing essential dental care, Brent has been instrumental in building sustainable housing, and addressing educational and vocational needs for longterm stability. With a heart for service, he has led over 55 trips to impoverished communities, offering essential healthcare and fostering sustainable practices. His relentless dedication to helping those in need transcends boundaries, embodying a vision that knows no limits. Brent Wong's tireless efforts reflect a profound belief in the transformative power of compassionate action.
Wendy Wong
Executive Director & Founder (Unpaid)
Wendy Wong radiates a heart of love and compassion, infusing every endeavour with empathy and care and driven by a deep-seated commitment to making a difference. Trained as an interior designer, she channels her creative talents into leading construction builds and curating enriching cultural experiences. Wendy's passion extends beyond bricks and mortar as she spearheads the STLI Community Centre programming year-round, fostering connections and empowerment within communities. With a heart as expansive as her vision, Wendy embodies the transformative power of empathy and action, instilling a harmonious blend of creativity, compassion, and community service.
Jonah Wong
Trip Assistant
Jonah's journey with humanitarian work began even before his birth, as Brent and Wendy held dental clinics in the mountains of Mexico. Today, with over 45 trips under his belt, he continues to embody a kind and compassionate spirit as well as a resourceful nature. Jonah’s skills in leadership shine as he guides teams of all ages on builds, while sharing cultural knowledge, and ensuring their safety with unwavering diligence. With a keen desire to see youth inspired to serve others, Jonah is an integral part of Shine the Light. He epitomizes dedication to service and community, weaving together leadership, empathy, and a passion for making a difference in the world.
Isaiah Wong
Trip Assistant
Isaiah, the youngest son of Brent and Wendy, exudes a natural warmth that instantly connects him with others. With an innate ability to connect and a fun-loving spirit, he effortlessly befriends everyone he meets. Isaiah possesses a keen awareness of others' needs and has a knack for turning even the most tedious tasks into enjoyable experiences. He spends much of his time helping integrate young participants into home building projects, fostering in them a sense of belonging and purpose within the community. Isaiah's boundless energy and compassionate nature as a key leader in Shine the Light, leaves a lasting impression on all who have the pleasure of knowing him.
