New Beginnings! This trip found us across the water from Nuevo Renacer in the barrio of Javillar. Brent and Wendy felt that after 20 house builds in Nuevo Renacer and with 6 different organizations helping in this community, they would spread some love across the river to Javillar where no groups were helping and where the poverty levels were the same and even worse at times.
There was more newness in the air with the implementation of a new medical model to add more responsibility and value to the local people. Our new methodology was a success and gave us a base on which to improve for future trips.
With this revived approach to helping our Dominican and Haitian friends, we found ourselves limiting the experience to a core group of participants. The group gelled like none other and we were able to build our first house in Javillar in record time.
We look forward to a long relationship in Javillar and are excited with the new possibilities it brings!
