On our last trip this past May, we made a huge acquisition and want to tell you about it! For the first time in STLi history, we purchased some land for a Community Training Centre in Javillar! As you can see from the photo, it currently houses the old pig feed barn which is just in front of the field with the baseball diamond.

And THIS October, we will be building the first floor! Wendy and I sat down with William to determine what needs the community would have for such a building. And here's the list: The Centre will be used for parenting classes, english classes, business training, bible studies, teenage pregnancy and prevention education, sewing programs, carpentry programs, literacy help, after school programming, gardening seminars, cooking classes and marriage classes. We also have aspirations of putting another 2 floors on the building - details to follow!
But, we need your help to make this dream a reality. The trip will be around the end of October to the beginning of November, 2017 and it will be the biggest structure that we have built to date. Please consider being a part of our team! If you have even an inkling on coming in October, please let me know ASAP, as we already have 17 people signed up for this trip, with another 12 who have expressed interest in coming. And please know there will be other projects to participate in outside of construction for those of you with physical limitations - everyone is welcome!
