Our October trip was a bit different this year as we embarked on a large project - building a Community Centre for El Javillar! We had 30 volunteers including a lot of children which made it a memorable experience! As well as construction, our volunteers participated in Kitchen Encounters (When we were invited into the homes of locals, buy them ingredients and they show us how to cook a traditional Dominican dish), visiting the Nest of Love School and teaching lessons, and just having the opportunity to feel a part of this special community!
There are many plans for the Community Centre which include Parenting Classes, English Classes and Business Training & Management just to name a few. The future looks bright and possibilities are endless for what this centre can mean and provide for the community!
